NEWBORN VISIT

The Newborn Visit

Congratulations on the birth of your new baby!

At your baby’s newborn visit we will:

  • Take their height, weight and head circumference
  • Perform a hearing test, if not completed at birth

GUIDANCE

Feeding: You may already have tried to put your baby to your breast. As soon as you get a moment, read the following to make sure you get on the right track.

Sleeping: If you have ever dreamed of having a baby who sleeps through the night, you will be able to achieve this vision–as long as you’re ready to take some steps towards this ideal. Read on…

Swaddling: Will you ever be able to swaddle your newborn as tightly and neatly as they showed you in the hospital? Before you enroll for a swaddling degree, read about it here and the reasons she might still want to wriggle free.

Burping: Yes, it’s true that the nurse is able to produce a burp from your baby each and every time they try to. However, a baby’s burp, while reassuring, is not terribly important. Gentle is definitely the way to go. Read on…

Hiccups: Don’t try to scare your baby–it won’t get rid of their hiccups. In fact, nothing will help but time. Fortunately a baby’s hiccup is not nearly as painful as it looks. Read on…

Leaving the Nest: Feel like going on a stroll with your newborn? We’ve got some tips for making your first journey out more comfortable. Read on about slings and taking your baby outside.

We hope this has been helpful, and we look forward to seeing your family soon! Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
