Q & A with Kelsey O’Connell

How did you get into pediatrics?
I got into healthcare knowing that I wanted to work with kids since I was a summer camp counselor in high school. I wanted a career where I can provide education and make a positive impact on the health of the children in my community. I started as a in-patient pediatric oncology nurse before getting my Master’s degree as a nurse practitioner.

Where did you grow up?
Maine.

Where do you live?
New York City.

What do you enjoy most about working in your neighborhood office?
Connecting to my community and being able to give excellent health care to the people who give me purpose and a sense of belonging.

What keeps you motivated?
Determination and striving to be the best I can be in a field that is continuously evolving. In health care, we are forever students, learning and growing our practice with advancements in science and technology.

What do you do for fun?
I love to spend time with my friends and family, and explore the city with my bulldog, Bronx.
