Hepatitis B (Hep B) (Merck)

Vaccine prevents serious consequences of the Hep B infection(liver disease); provides lifelong immunity.

Offered to all newborns in the hospital, required for infants whose mothers have tested positive for Hep B infection.

Possible side effect: soreness at site.

Pneumococcal Conjugate (Prevnar 20)(Pfizer)

Vaccine prevents bacterial infection of the lungs (pneumonia), blood(bacteremia) and brain/spinal cord (meningitis).

Known to decrease occurrence of ear infections.

Possible side effects: redness, swelling, and tenderness at injection site, fever, fussiness, irritability.

Vaxelis (Sanofi & Merck)

Combination of six vaccines (DTaP, Polio, Hib, Hep B)

Possible side effects: redness, swelling and tenderness at injection site, fever, fussiness, crying.

Vaxelis VIS

Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTAP) (Sanofi Pasteur)

This vaccine protects against:

Diptheria: bacterial infection that affects mucous membranes of throat and nose

Tetanus: bacterial infections that causes muscle stiffness

Pertussis: whooping cough(respiratory disease)

Possible side effects: pain, redness or swelling at site, fever, headaches, fatigue

DTaP VIS

Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis (Tdap)(Sanofi Pasteur)

This vaccine protects against:

Diptheria: bacterial infection that affects mucous membranes of throat and nose

Haemophilus B (HIB)(Sanofi Pasteur)

Vaccine prevents meningitis(infection of the brain), epiglottis(severe throat infection) and invasive bacterial disease.

Possible side effects: redness, warmth, swelling at site, fever

Hib VIS

Polio (IPV)

Poliomyelitis represents one of immunization’s most impressive successes.

It is a highly infectious viral disease that can cause partial or full paralysis in just a few hours. Polio typically strikes children under 3 years of age and affects the legs and sometimes the respiratory system. Because there is no cure, prevention is crucial. Thanks to the polio vaccine and consistent vaccination, polio was almost fully eradicated in the latter half of the 20th century; it persists in only seven countries in the Third World.

Polio (IPV)(Sanofi Pasteur)

Vaccine prevents poliomyelitis(crippling disease), paralysis(inability to move body parts).

Due to vaccine efforts, the United States has been polio-free for more than 30 years.

Possible side effects: redness or pain at injection site

Rotateq (Merck)

Oral vaccine that prevents rotavirus(vomiting, watery diarrhea, dehydration)

Most children in the United States are infected with the rotavirus by 5 years of age.

Possible side effects: irritability, mild diarrhea or vomiting

Pneumococcal Conjugate (Vaxneuvance/PCV15)(Merck)

Vaccine prevents bacterial infection of the lungs(pneumonia), blood(bacteremia) and brain/spinal cord(meningitis). Known to decrease occurrence of ear infections. Possible side effects: redness, swelling and tenderness at injection site, fever, fussiness, irritability.

Measles-Mumps-Rubella Vaccine (MMR)(Merck)

This vaccine protects against 3 diseaes:

Measles: virus causes rash, runny nose, eye irritation, fever, pneumonia

Mumps: virus causes fever, headache, muscle pain, swollen glands

Rubella(German Measles): virus causes rash, arthritis, fever

Possible side effects: fever, mild rash usually 6-14 days after vaccination

MMR VIS

Varicella(Chickenpox/Varivax)(Merck)

Common childhood disease that can cause fever, rash, and pneumonia.

Possible side effects: soreness and swelling at injection site, fever and mild rash usually 6-21 days after vaccination

Varicella VIS

Hepatitis A (Hep A)(Merck)

Vaccine prevents against the Hepatitis A infections(liver disease, jaundice, diarrhea, "flu-like" illness)

Possible side effects: soreness at injection site, headache, fatigue, loss of appetite

Hep A VIS

Meningococcal (MenQuadfi/MCV4)(Sanofi Pasteur)

Vaccine protects against bacterial infection of the brain and spinal cord(meningitis) and blood(bacteremia).

This vaccine protects against 4 diseases:

Measles: virus causes rash, runny nose, eye irritation, fever, pneumonia

Mumps: virus causes fever, headache, muscle pain, swollen glands

Rubella (German Measles): virus causes rash, arthritis, fever

Varicella: virus causes fever, blisters, headache, itching, sore throat

Possible side effects: fever, mild rash, usually 6-14 days after vaccination

Proquad VIS

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV/Gardasil 9)(Merck)

Vaccine protects against HPV, which causes many cancers in females(cervical, vaginal, anal, throat), males(anal, throat, penile) and genital warts in both.

Possible side effects: soreness, redness or swelling at injection site, fever headache

Updated immunization schedule due to vaccine shortage from Sanofi-Pasteur.
