How did you get into pediatrics?
I’ve always seen pediatrics as a natural extension of a life of service. Before medical school, I served as a firefighter and joined mission trips to Haiti and to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, as well as working with Habitat for Humanity—experiences that taught me what it means to be present for people at their most vulnerable. That commitment was shaped even earlier by watching my father care for generations of families as a pediatrician in the Cuban community of Union City, New Jersey, often called ‘Havana on the Hudson.’ Pediatrics allows me to continue that legacy by caring for children and their families.
Where did you grow up?
I was born in Saudi Arabia and was living there during the Gulf War before my family moved back to Dhaka, Bangladesh, where I spent my childhood until age 10. After that I grew up in northern New Jersey. Having roots in multiple countries has really shaped how I see people, culture, and community.
Where do you live now?
New Jersey
What do you look forward to most about working in your neighborhood office?
I’m excited to work in a neighborhood office where I can get to know families well, collaborate closely with the team, and care for children in both sick and well visits. I especially enjoy educating and supporting parents so they feel confident and heard.
What keeps you motivated?
I’m motivated by the idea of service and giving back to the communities I’m part of. Growing up across different countries and then watching my father care for families as a pediatrician showed me how powerful it is to show up consistently for people. That same sense of purpose drives me now—knowing that each visit, whether a simple well check or a complicated sick visit, is an opportunity to support a child and family at an important moment.
What do you do for fun?
Outside of work, we enjoy spending time outdoors with our kids—skiing, kayaking, and traveling with our rescue dogs. We’re foodies who like exploring new places and trying new restaurants, we have fun with DIY projects at home, and I also enjoy running marathons for charity.
