Coping During Labor
A small group session devoted entirely to coping with contractions during labor.
Topics included:
- Focusing and meditation techniques.
- Breath work and guided visualization.
- Creating a calm birthing room.
- Gentle touch.
- Props and tools for coping.
- Confidence building about the physiology of labor.
- Optimal positioning for the various stages of labor.
- Coping with labor at home, on the way to the hospital, in triage and in the labor & delivery room.
- Coping during pushing and immediately post-birth.

Childbirth Classes
Our intimate, live online group class offers guidance and preparation for childbirth, from labor to postpartum care.
Our highly-qualified instructors have helped many families become more educated and confident the labor and delivery process.
The class has been reformatted to be hosted in a virtual, interactive platform including labor support materials, resources, and follow-up emails with the instructor.
Topics included:
- How to know labor is starting, coping with early labor at home and when to go to the hospital.
- Navigating the hospital — including policies, choices you will need to make and birth plans.
- Medical procedures such as monitoring, induction, and cesarean birth.
- Basic coping, pushing, post birth procedures and leaving the hospital.
- This class is available online only.

Jayne Freeman

After the birth of her two daughters, Jayne started her own public access show “Mamarama” and in 2014, she successfully petitioned the Port Authority Trans Hudson (PATH) to create better seating awareness for pregnant passengers. Margot has worked in community health centers and non-profit agencies with families toward their goals of achieving healthier living since 1994. As a childbirth educator, Margot Hodes considers it a privilege to play a small part in an expectant family’s big journey to parenthood. A native New Yorker, Margot lives on the Lower East Side with her husband and two sons.

Our live, online Essential Baby Care & Feeding class helps expectant parents prepare for the first weeks at home with their newborn.
Understanding the basics of newborn behavior, sleep and feeding can be enormously helpful for first-time parents.
This class has been reformatted to be hosted in a virtual, interactive platform.

- Bathing, diapering and dressing a baby
- Understanding newborn sleep
- Normal newborn appearances and behavior
- Getting off to a good start with feeding

Abigail joined Tribeca Pediatrics in 2014 and has been working in the Cardiac NICU at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital as a PNP for 2 years. She has previously worked in the NICU at NYU Langone Medical Center and Brooklyn Hospital with over 7 years of experience. She began her career as a private baby nurse and enjoys teaching new parents how to become more independent and confident with newborns. She is currently finishing her Doctorate at Columbia University in Pediatrics.

Vanessa Anton, doula, educator and certified CPR instructor— and long-time, truly BELOVED Pregnancy & Parenting teacher— is offering informational sessions for expectant parents concerned about giving birth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Topics included:
- Giving birth alone, without a partner present in the hospital.
- Changes in protocols in hospitals and how to navigate.
- What to bring to the hospital to make things easier on myself.
- How to make sense of actual risk when it comes to labor and newborn care.
- How to get support before, during and after the labor when contact is limited or banned altogether.
- What to do about breastfeeding support or help postpartum with a newborn.
