GUIDANCE

School: Keep encouraging hard work at school.  If you start to notice that your child excels at certain subjects but has difficulty in others, now is the time to talk with the teach to see if there any extra help that your child may benefit from in order to keep doing their best at school

Nutrition: Now that your ten-year-old is heading into early adolescence and will be making more and more food and nutrition choices on their own, encourage nutritious food choices and praise them when they select healthy options off the menu when going out to eat.  The more positive encouragement for healthy choices now can lead to a lifetime of healthy eating.

Safety: The backseat of the car is still the safest spot for your child when traveling. If you think they are tall enough to start using the lap belt without a booster, make sure the seat belt fits correctly over their lap and shoulder. If not, they may need that booster seat for a bit longer. And, we know you know, but keep enforcing the helmet rule when your child is riding a bike, or anything else for that matter. We’ll get back to you with our recommendations for hover-board protection once they hit the market.
