Q&A with Reina Joy Mizukoshi
How did you get into pediatrics?
Growing up in a large family, I was always the one looking after my cousins, which first sparked my love for working with children. Seeing my father and grandmother navigate their health journeys inspired me to pursue medicine, and I’ve always wanted to be the supportive figure who helps set kids up for a healthy, successful future—just as my family did for me!
Where did you grow up?
Japan -> California -> NYC
Where do you live?
New Jersey! I’m still adjusting to my new hometown.
What do you look forward to most about working in your neighborhood office?
I am most excited about the opportunity to build meaningful, long-term rapport with my patients and their families. Coming from a large, supportive family myself, I truly value those connections and look forward to being a consistent resource for them as I watch my patients grow up and thrive within the community.
What keeps you motivated?
I’m driven by working alongside a team who are obsessed with staying up-to-date on the best care guidelines. That collaborative energy—and a healthy amount of coffee—keeps me moving!
What do you do for fun?
Outside of the office, you can usually find me playing piano, on the tennis court, or curled up with a good book. I also love painting and exploring new coffee shops around the city!
