Q & A with Lindsay Virdee

How did you get into pediatrics?
My dad is a Pediatrician – growing up I loved seeing how passionate he was – he loved helping and caring for children. I guess I inherited the gene. I love working with children, they’re innocent and resilient. It’s such a rewarding field to be in!

Where did you grow up?
Coral Springs, FL.

Where do you live?
Manhattan.

What are you looking forward to in your neighborhood office?
I enjoy the relationships I’ve created with my patients over the years. My favorite part about primary care is the journey of watching my patients grow up.

What keeps you motivated?
The best feeling is when I can bring a smile to my patients and their families. It is common to see pediatric patients tearful or nervous or worried. By making a human connection with them – playing with a nervous child with a calm reassuring approach is enough to put them at ease. Guiding them through healthy lifestyles and caring for them when they are ill with evidence-based practice is what motivates me.

What do you do for fun?
During my free time I am either spending quality time with my golden retriever, at a workout class, or exploring the yummy food that New York City has to offer.
