Q & A with Dr. Stephanie Lee

How did you get into pediatrics?
My own pediatrician was my role model growing up. Her calming demeanor toward my loving, yet always worried mom was the most memorable to me. As a kid, seeing that was reassuring and I liked the way she treated my family. I nearly went into Geriatrics during medical school. What drew me back were several things: I am happier caring for children and teens. Many of my mentors are Pediatricians, and I wanted a specialty where I may work with my patient’s family in concrete ways.

Where did you grow up?
Hong Kong and Brooklyn.

Where do you live?
Park Slope.

What do you enjoy most about working in your neighborhood office?
Supporting my patient’s growth and seeing them thrive.

What keeps you motivated?
Wanting to do good and be the best pediatrician for my patients. My mentor’s words to me were, “Treat your patients and their families as if they are your very own. You will do good if you strive for that every time.”

What do you do for fun?
My favorite things to do include reading, cooking, going to string orchestra concerts, and being outdoors.
